He Chose You

Greetings church family,

The governor asked them, "Which of the two do you want me to release for you?"

"Barabbas!" they answered.

Pilate asked them, "What should I do then with Jesus, who is called Christ?"

They all answered, "Crucify him!"

[Matthew 27:21-22 CSB]

Whenever I read the David and Goliath story, I tend to put myself in David's position.  But what about the times in life when I'm more like Goliath?  What about the times where I put more trust in the might of a "sword" or a "shield" than I do in God's power?

When I read the story of the three Hebrew boys’, I tend to see myself as Shadrach, Meshach, or Abednego.  But what about the times I'm more like King Nebuchadnezzar?  What about the times I'm aware of God's plan (dream of the statue in Daniel 2), but I'm dead set on seeing my own plans (man-made statue in Daniel 3) come to fruition?

Interestingly enough, when I read the account of Jesus and Barabbas, I'm wise enough to know I have no business putting myself in Jesus' shoes.  Which means...I am Barabbas!  And it was Jesus' love that truly set me free!

I could never put myself in Jesus' position.  But He chose to put Himself in my position, so that I could be in His, a forever child of God! He chose me! Hallelujah!!!

This resurrection season, when the angry crowds of your life choose Barabbas, just remember, child of God, those are reminders that Jesus chose you and still does today!

"You did not choose me, but I chose you." [John 15:16 CSB]

Be blessed!
